A Sunday afternoon shooting in a Huntington Beach neighborhood left a man dead on November 9, 2025. Police responded shortly before 2:30 p.m. to reports of shots near Ash Lane and Mandrell Drive and found 42-year-old Ryan Daniel Ennis of Anaheim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local trauma center and later died of his injuries.

Huntington Beach police identified and located a suspect the same evening. Twenty-eight-year-old Luis Angel Mireles of Santa Ana, described in reports as a felon on probation, was taken into custody and charged with Ennis’s murder. The charging documents include a felony enhancement for discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death. Mireles’s criminal history in police reports reaches back to 2016 and includes convictions for fleeing police, reckless driving, and carrying a loaded weapon in public; he also had pending matters at the time of the shooting, including alleged possession of a deadly weapon in jail and stalking.

Authorities have not released a motive and the Huntington Beach Police Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Bureau are continuing the investigation. If anyone witnessed the shooting near Ash Lane and Mandrell Drive or saw relevant activity in the area that afternoon, please come forward with information.
