Anthony Brooks, 26, was fatally shot in the head at a South Ridgeland Avenue residence in Oak Park on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2025. Authorities were notified around 1:47 p.m. after a caller reported a shooting following an altercation between Anthony and his younger brother, 23-year-old Miles Brooks. The caller said Miles was advised to unload the weapon and exit the home; officers found Miles outside and took him into custody without incident.
Officers found Anthony inside the house unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics pronounced him dead shortly after arriving. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a charge of first-degree murder against Miles Brooks, who is being held pending a detention hearing. The Oak Park Police Department, assisted by the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services, is continuing the investigation. This was reported as the second fatal shooting in Oak Park that year.
