Eric Roland, 37, was shot and killed in Carlisle, Arkansas, in the early hours of Sunday, November 2, 2025. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found Roland lying in the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue; by the time emergency responders arrived he was already dead from apparent gunshot wounds. A fundraiser organized for his children says he was shot four times around midnight.
Witnesses at the scene identified 40-year-old Carlisle resident Cyle Ramone Cooney as the suspected shooter and reported he fled in a white Dodge Ram pickup. Deputies with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office located Cooney a few hours later and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Lonoke County Detention Center on charges that included first-degree murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by certain persons; bond was reported as $150,000 and a court appearance was scheduled for January 2026.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory became involved to reconstruct the shooting and determine cause and manner of death. Authorities have not publicly released a motive, and the investigation is described as active. Roland is remembered by family and his obituary as a father and friend; he is survived by two young children, ages five and seven.
Did anyone in Carlisle see or hear anything the night of November 1–2 that could help investigators or the family?
