Kim Kha Huynh was an 18-year-old from Chino Hills who was killed during a late-night shooting at Z Town Asian Gastro Bar on Elk Grove Florin Road in the early hours of Sunday, November 2, 2025. Witnesses said an argument involving Kim and a 43-year-old Sacramento man, later identified as Roderick Randall, escalated and gunfire erupted around 1:30 a.m. Four men were struck; Kim was pronounced dead at the scene and another victim, 34-year-old Phuc Minh Vo of San Jose, later died in hospital. Two other men, ages 25 and 26, survived and were released from care.

Elk Grove police identified Randall as the suspected shooter and warned he should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators collected shell casings, reviewed surveillance footage of patrons fleeing, and appealed for tips. Authorities arrested 25-year-old Thao Tran, described as Randall’s girlfriend, on suspicion of being an accessory and booked her into jail. Police have not explained whether Kim was specifically targeted or was caught up in the dispute.

Friends remembered Kim as a young man who brightened a room; online memorials noted he had come from Southern California for a night out. Who in the bar that night might have seen the argument or the shooter’s movements before people ran for the exits?
