Richard E. Frazier, a 24-year-old Black man from Champaign, Illinois, was shot and killed the evening of November 16, 2025, on the 3700 block of Colleen Drive. He had just stepped out of his apartment when multiple gunshots rang out; residents called 911 and officers arrived at about 6:04 p.m. Frazier was found outside with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds, transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, and pronounced dead at 7 p.m. The Champaign County Coroner identified him and an autopsy was scheduled to further document injuries and determine the exact medical cause of death.

Investigators say the shooter’s actions suggest they either saw Frazier emerge or were already nearby when he stepped outside. Officers canvassed the neighborhood, seeking witnesses and footage from exterior cameras, and appealed for tips through the police department and Crime Stoppers. Authorities have said this homicide is being investigated separately from an unrelated shooting on North Elm Street that same night. No arrests or named suspects have been announced and the shooter remains unidentified.

If anyone saw or recorded activity on Colleen Drive around 6 p.m. on November 16, 2025, please contact the Champaign Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
