Mark B. Thompson, 70, was fatally shot at a family hunting cabin on Botsford Hollow Road in the Town of Allen (near Fillmore) on November 23, 2025. He had been staying there with his two brothers; reports list his home address as Canterbury, Connecticut, suggesting he was visiting for a hunting trip.

New York State Police say a late-night physical altercation inside the cabin led to gunfire. Troopers were dispatched after a 10:06 p.m. 911 call. Investigators determined that Mark Thompson and his brother David E. Thompson, 69, were both shot with a rifle and were pronounced dead; the deaths are recorded in gun-violence databases as a double homicide linked to the Fillmore area.

State Police identified the third brother, 65-year-old Scot Thompson of Englewood, Florida, as the suspect. He left the scene in David Thompson’s vehicle, which was later located and stopped by Livingston County and Geneseo officers; Scot Thompson was taken into custody and turned over to State Police. Autopsies were scheduled at Strong Memorial Hospital and forensic and prosecutorial units were assisting the ongoing investigation.

If anyone was at or near the hunting camp that night or has information about what led to the confrontation, please share what is known with investigators.
