On November 23, 2025, 29-year-old motel employee Yoqoubie Yarabough was shot and killed while working at the Live In Lodge – Extended Stay on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro, Georgia. He had been on duty when he was asked to handle a problem involving a guest room; his fiancé says he went to tell the occupant they needed to leave. The encounter reportedly escalated, the guest opened fire, and Yarabough was struck by at least one bullet.

Jonesboro officers found Yarabough suffering from the wound and responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the motel. Investigators from the Jonesboro Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Clayton County Police Department, and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office are working the case. No arrests or public suspect descriptions have been announced. Authorities say there is currently no evidence directly linking this killing to another homicide found hours later at Fayetteville Road and Williamson Mill Road.

Anyone who saw or heard something near the motel on the night of November 23 or who has information about the guest involved is asked to contact the Jonesboro Police Department or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta.
