Jose Lanzot was 33 when he was fatally shot on Vermont Street on Buffalo’s West Side on the evening of Wednesday, August 5, 2015. The shooting also wounded another man; Buffalo Police Department investigators classified Lanzot’s death as a homicide and confirmed he died of gunshot wounds.

In the days after the killing detectives worked to reconstruct the events, but few details were released publicly. No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified since the shooting, and the case remains unsolved in the city’s records. Lanzot’s family and friends were left to mourn a sudden, violent loss that has seen no public resolution.
