On the evening of December 18, 2025, a domestic dispute at a Miami Gardens residence in the 3300 block of Northwest 177th Terrace ended in a fatal shooting. Officers responding shortly after 7:00 p.m. found Yasmany Rodriguez Fernandez dead on the front porch with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Inside the house his wife, his stepdaughter, and an eight-month-old infant were unharmed but shaken.
Investigators say the confrontation involved 32-year-old Sylvester Grice-Jordan, the stepdaughter’s boyfriend, who had lived in the home until being asked to leave earlier in December. Family members contacted him on December 18 to retrieve a dog he had left behind after it defecated inside the house, and a verbal argument escalated. Police reports and neighborhood surveillance footage indicate both men were initially armed but not holding weapons; Rodriguez Fernandez reportedly set his handgun on a table, followed Grice-Jordan to the porch, and was then shot. Video allegedly shows Grice-Jordan firing additional shots, including a final shot to the head, and later complying with officers’ orders to drop the rifle when they arrived.
Grice-Jordan was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He was charged with second-degree murder and displaying a weapon while committing a felony; a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf at the initial court appearance. Does anyone have information about interactions between the family and Grice-Jordan in the weeks before December 15?
