A late-evening gunfight in LaPlace turned deadly on December 17, 2025. Deputies responding shortly before 7:00 p.m. to a reported shooting in the Cambridge subdivision found a 17-year-old male in a driveway with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and right buttock. A short distance away, in woods behind a residence on the 3100 block of English Colony Drive, officers located 16-year-old Harold Warren Jr. with a gunshot wound to the left side of his back. Warren was taken to Ochsner Medical Complex and pronounced dead.
Hospital staff also reported a 19-year-old man arrived separately in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators say the three had gathered for a gun transaction that turned into an exchange of gunfire. The 17-year-old remained in critical condition; the 19-year-old’s condition was not disclosed. All three were students in the St. John the Baptist Parish School District, and Warren attended East Jefferson High School.
Detectives had not released names of suspects or announced arrests as the motive and full circumstances of the failed transaction were being investigated. Did anyone in the Cambridge subdivision see activity around English Colony Drive that evening or know more about the planned meeting?
