On the evening of Friday, December 12, 2025, gunfire in the 100 block of Tennessee Avenue in Alexandria, Louisiana, left 32-year-old Antonio Nicols with fatal gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported hearing five to six shots around 9:30 p.m. Nicols was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle and was later pronounced dead.
Alexandria Police detectives opened a homicide investigation at the scene, collected evidence and interviewed community members. Investigators identified 28-year-old Alexandria resident Jorion Handerson as a suspect and issued a public warning that he should be considered armed and dangerous. An active warrant for second-degree murder was issued.
Handerson surrendered to police the next morning around 10:15 a.m., reportedly after coordination between his family and an Alexandria detective. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center with bond set at $1,000,000 and remained in custody on the second-degree murder charge.
Did anyone in the Alexandria area see or hear anything that night on Tennessee Avenue that could help clarify what happened?
