On the morning of Monday, December 8, 2025, a shooting on Washington Boulevard in Culver City left Fidel Muñoz Jr., 51, dead. Officers responded at about 8:05 a.m. to the 10200 block, near the Palms neighborhood border and steps from the Sony Pictures Studios lot, and found a dark-colored SUV parked at the curb with Muñoz seated in the driver’s seat suffering at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The area was cordoned off for several hours while detectives searched for evidence and witnesses. As of the weeks after the killing, the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division had not identified a motive, released a suspect description, or made any arrests. Investigators canvassed for surveillance footage and leads and asked the public for information.
