On the evening of December 7, 2025, 64-year-old Fernando Casanova Sr. of Fountain, North Carolina, was found dead in the backyard of a house on King Farm Road after first responders arrived for a structure fire around 8:15 p.m. Medical examiners determined he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Casanova Sr. had worked at Tucker Farms for over two decades and was described as a beloved member of the Farmville community and a devoted family man.

The death was part of a broader violent incident that evening across Pitt County. At a residence about six miles away in Farmville, deputies found a 27-year-old with a gunshot wound to the back and learned shots had been fired at the house, narrowly missing two small children inside. The events continued in Greenville, roughly 13 miles from Farmville, where two people were shot at but not struck; they disarmed the gunman and the assailant sustained minor injuries before being treated at ECU Health.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Fernando Alberto Casanova, the victim’s son. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the death of his father, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and second-degree arson, and is being held without bond on the murder and attempted murder charges. Does anyone have information about Casanova Sr., his routines, or the locations mentioned that could help clarify what happened that night?
