On the morning of Friday, December 5, 2025, 24-year-old Latisha Michelle Denise Carter was found unresponsive in the driveway of a residence in the 2800 block of Donaldson Drive in South Jackson and had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Jackson Police responded to a distress call around 6:30 a.m.; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate a family member may have discovered her shortly before officers arrived.

Investigators said a black or dark-colored SUV was seen leaving the area between 2:55 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., and detectives identified that vehicle and its occupant as potential persons of interest. Police linked Carter’s killing to an earlier shooting about three hours prior in the nearby 2800 block of Revere Street, where a 37-year-old man was found dead and a second man was hospitalized in stable condition. As of late December 2025 no arrests had been announced and the investigation remained active.

Anyone with information about the dark-colored SUV or either shooting in South Jackson is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
