On December 1, 2025, Florence, South Carolina, was rocked by a drive-by shooting that killed 18-year-old Zynaija Thomas. Thomas was an expectant mother at the time and died just weeks before her nineteenth birthday. The incident occurred in the Pee Dee region and prompted an immediate police investigation.

Investigators treated the shooting as targeted rather than random and identified a person of interest. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Thomas’s death; the youth’s name has been withheld in some public reports because of their age.

What details about the scene or motive might help explain why Zynaija Thomas was targeted, and can anyone who was in the area on December 1, 2025, provide information to assist the investigation?
