An 8-year-old girl, Journey Rose Reotutar Guerrero, was killed on the evening of November 29, 2025, at a birthday party held at the Monkey Space event venue on Lucile Avenue, just outside Stockton in San Joaquin County, California. The party was for a 2-year-old and guests were gathered for the cake-cutting when gunfire erupted shortly before 6:00 p.m. Authorities described the attack as targeted; investigators say multiple shooters fired at least 50 rounds from five different weapons. Four people died and thirteen were injured; journey’s cousin Maya Lupian, also 8, 14-year-old Amari Peterson and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta were among the dead.

Witnesses reported seeing a masked gunman and said the violence began inside the venue and continued outside as family members tried to shield children. Officials indicated the attack may have been directed at a local rapper known as MBNel, who was at the event, and the investigation was ongoing. Journey was a third-grader at Commodore Stockton Skills School who loved baking, arts and crafts, gymnastics and hoped to be a cheerleader and later a physician. If anyone attended that party or has information about the shooting, please share what you know.
