On the night of Sunday, January 18, 2026, gunfire was reported in Huntington Beach just before 11:30 p.m. Officers responding to a home in the 4500 block of Scenario Drive found 35-year-old Tyquan Devone Maurice Rawlins of Long Beach suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.

Huntington Beach Police Department Major Crimes detectives identified 48-year-old Robert Emery of Huntington Beach as a suspect. Based on witness interviews and evidence collected, Emery was arrested and booked at the Huntington Beach City Jail on a murder charge. Authorities say they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
