A domestic dispute in Pharr, Texas, ended in deadly violence on January 3, 2026. Police were called about 11:35 p.m. to a home on the 700 block of Chickadee Street and found 45-year-old Randy Luna Herrera unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the situation began earlier when Herrera’s common-law wife, Perla Lizeth Cruz, arrived to drop off their children and left after an altercation. Cruz later told police Herrera had called from the house while she was in Edinburg, threatening to shoot her in the face if she did not return by midnight and also threatening 18-year-old Emanuel Ibarra Flores over property in the garage. Flores, who lives in Edcouch, went to the residence and, police say, admitted shooting Herrera multiple times with a rifle and placed the weapon in his Chevrolet Silverado before officers arrived.

Flores was arrested at the scene without incident and charged with murder; he is being held on $750,000 bond. Herrera is survived by his wife, children, mother, and siblings.
