Gregario Julian Lizama Tenorio, 37, was killed in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2026 after stepping in to break up a dispute at a Spinx gas station in the 1500 block of W.O. Ezell Boulevard in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Witnesses said a sedan pulled into the lot shortly after 1 a.m., and a heated argument between the driver and a passenger drew Tenorio from his own vehicle; he was shot as he approached the rear of that sedan and died at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner later identified him.
The shooting was one of three homicides in the city during the first week of 2026. Police confirmed an active investigation but have not publicly identified any suspects, and no arrests have been announced. It is not yet known what sparked the initial dispute or who fired the fatal shots.
If anyone witnessed the argument or the vehicle involved, can you share what you saw with authorities?
