Bridgeport recorded its first homicide of 2026 in the early hours of January 1. At about 3 a.m., 31-year-old Jordan Thompson was shot inside what authorities described as an illegal after-hours club on the 900 block of Noble Avenue. First responders found numerous people fleeing; Thompson was discovered critically wounded, taken to a nearby hospital, and later pronounced dead.

The Bridgeport Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit cordoned off the scene and conducted an evidence search. Detectives say they are reviewing surveillance footage and have detained and questioned several people who were at the club, but no arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced. Family members described the loss as devastating, noting this was the second homicide to affect their family.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department.
