A man died after a shooting inside a home in Lincoln on the evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Officers responded just before 6 p.m. to a residence in the 1200 block of Hillwood Loop after a 35-year-old caller, later identified as Zachary Siegfried, reported he had shot someone who allegedly had approached him with a knife. First responders found the victim with at least one gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 61-year-old Kelly Fedder. Investigators recovered a firearm and a knife from the house.

Siegfried was detained at the scene, questioned and then arrested the following day; he was booked into the South Placer Jail on suspicion of homicide. Police say the two were acquainted, describe the incident as isolated and report no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and details remain limited.
