On the morning of Friday, January 30, 2026, 33-year-old Wesley Blake Bowen of Dothan, Alabama, was found dead inside his vehicle in a retention pond on the 2700 block of Ross Clark Circle. First responders arrived shortly before 10 a.m. after reports of a submerged vehicle; a subsequent examination found Bowen had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Police say Bowen was driving with a passenger when, during an alleged robbery, the passenger brandished a firearm and shot Bowen. The driver’s incapacitation caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the pond. Witnesses reported seeing a Black male flee the scene, and surveillance footage plus witness descriptions led officers to a person of interest on Stonewood Drive behind Farrah Circle.
That man, identified as 24-year-old Michael Tywuan Taylor of Ozark, Alabama, was arrested and charged with one count of capital murder; investigators recovered a jacket and a handgun near where he was located. The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about Bowen, his passenger, or the events on Ross Clark Circle that morning, please come forward.
