Corey Lamont Brown, 48, was shot and killed following a dispute in Ahoskie, North Carolina, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Police found Brown deceased from an apparent gunshot wound at a residence on West Rogers Street after responding to a call at about 8:23 a.m. The incident reportedly began as a heated argument between Brown and another man.

Officers took 65-year-old Leandrew Vinson into custody at the scene without incident. After investigators examined the circumstances of the shooting, Vinson was charged with first-degree murder and held at the Hertford County Detention Center with no bond. He was scheduled for his first court appearance the Friday following the incident. Brown was the son of Fred Allen Brown, Sr. and Hellena Bynum Brown.
