On the afternoon of January 25, 2026, 27-year-old Israel Castrejon Trejo of Nampa was shot in a Meridian parking lot near 195 E. Central Ave. Multiple 911 calls came in around 12:30 p.m.; officers found Castrejon Trejo with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:38 p.m. Police say he was not armed when the altercation occurred.

Authorities took 23-year-old Jacob L. Streat into custody at the scene. Investigators say the two men approached each other before Streat allegedly fired more than a dozen rounds; police believe the encounter may have begun as a road rage or traffic-related dispute. Investigators are reviewing witness interviews and video evidence to establish the motive and sequence of events. If anyone witnessed the shooting or has video from the parking lot that afternoon, please share what you know with Meridian Police.
