Michael Arnold, 68, was found dead inside his Oak Forest home on the evening of Friday, January 23, 2026. First responders arrived at about 6:20 p.m.; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds and classified the death as a homicide.

The shooting occurred on the 15000 block of Sunset Avenue. The Oak Forest Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Unit opened a joint investigation and began canvassing the neighborhood. No motive has been released, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced.
