Za’veon Heath, 18, was killed in a shooting shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, inside the Elizabeth Lane parking deck in downtown Rock Hill, South Carolina. Investigators say the incident began as an attempted armed robbery: Heath, accompanied by a 16-year-old girl, allegedly tried to rob a 15-year-old male at gunpoint. The 15-year-old produced a handgun and shot Heath. Emergency medical responders pronounced Heath dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, police arrested both surviving teenagers. The 16-year-old faces armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and murder charges tied to a violent felony that resulted in a death. The 15-year-old who fired the shot was charged with possession of a pistol by a person under 18; both were placed in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. The episode was one of several incidents of teen violence in Rock Hill that week and has prompted community concern.
Does anyone have information about Heath, the two juveniles involved, or the events at the Elizabeth Lane parking deck that night?
