Donovan Encinia, 18, was shot and killed in Corpus Christi on the afternoon of February 16, 2026, after a dispute over services at a residence on Secretariat Drive. Police were called about a shooting in the 1900 block at about 3:00 p.m.; officers found Encinia with multiple gunshot wounds and provided first aid until he was taken to a hospital where he later died. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed his identity.

Investigators say the confrontation escalated when a weapon was produced and shots were fired. Several people were detained at the scene for questioning and interviewed by detectives, but those individuals were released and no arrests or charges had been announced as of the most recent reports. The Corpus Christi Police Department describes the investigation as active and is asking anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Division or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
