Quadree Khalil Pettiford, 31, was shot and killed in an apartment on West Water Street in Plymouth, North Carolina, on February 16, 2026. The shooting occurred about 7:32 p.m.; Plymouth Police found Pettiford with apparent gunshot wounds and Washington County EMS transported him to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly identified 36-year-old Jeffrey Haughton II of Roper as a suspect and sought arrest warrants charging First Degree Murder, Breaking or Entering with Intent to Terrorize or Injure, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Authorities described the incident as believed to be domestic-related and said they did not consider there to be an ongoing threat to the community while seeking Haughton’s whereabouts.
Pettiford, known to friends as Dre and Champ #26, was remembered as outgoing, loving, and caring and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Does anyone in the Plymouth area have information about that evening or Haughton’s whereabouts?
