Diego Andres Lopez-Urdaneta, a young Venezuelan man, was found unresponsive in his Dodge pickup after it had veered into a ditch off the 300 block of University Boulevard in Bowling Green in the early morning hours of February 15, 2026. A Western Kentucky University Police Department officer discovered he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville and pronounced dead on February 16, 2026. The case was upgraded from an armed-robbery inquiry to a homicide after his death.

Investigators say the sequence began with an apparent confrontation outside Club Havana on St. Charles Street. Security camera review shows a black Nissan Rogue pursuing Lopez-Urdaneta’s truck through Russellville Road, University Boulevard and Old Morgantown Road, sometimes at high speed and with its headlights off. A friend who was at the club reported hearing a loud pop he believed was a gunshot while trying to approach the truck.

Detectives located a Nissan Rogue later that day on Glen Lily Road. Bowling Green authorities arrested 20-year-old Christopher Meza Ramirez of Bowling Green, identified as the Rogue’s driver; his charge was upgraded to complicity to murder after Lopez-Urdaneta died.

If anyone was at Club Havana that night or has footage or information about the pursuit, please come forward.
