Sirnandle Bernard Duncan, a Black man, was fatally shot on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Helena, Arkansas. Deputies from the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting call just before 10:30 a.m. in the 200 block of County Road 277. Reports say the shooting occurred inside Duncan’s home and followed a domestic altercation involving Duncan and the mother of his juvenile stepson.

Authorities allege the juvenile stepson shot his stepfather. Major John Harris of the sheriff’s department described the incident as a rare occurrence for the community. Friends recalled Duncan as a genuinely good man and expressed shock and grief at his death. At the time of initial reports, the juvenile had not been formally charged; the case was to be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for a charging decision. There have been no public updates about arrests or filed charges.
