On the evening of Friday, February 13, 2026, a shooting in the north parking lot of the Westfield Culver City Mall near Macy’s left 25-year-old Angel Torres dead. Officers from the Culver City Police Department found Torres with multiple gunshot wounds about 7:25 p.m.; he was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police say the shooting followed a robbery that escalated. Torres, a Los Angeles resident, was identified by investigators as a suspect who allegedly confronted several people in the parking lot while armed, and an exchange of gunfire followed. Two firearms were recovered at the scene.
Two people were arrested in connection with the incident. Kejuan Griggs, 27, of Los Angeles, was located at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery; bail was set at $4.25 million. Kelsi Ann Taplette, 28, of Los Angeles, was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and accessory after the fact; bail was set at $50,000. Authorities say there may be additional robbery victims who have not yet come forward and encourage anyone with information to contact the Culver City Police Department.
Does anyone have information about the robbery or the people involved that could help investigators?
