On the morning of February 10, 2026, 73-year-old bond recovery agent James A. Eastis was shot and killed inside a residence on Harris Road in Hayden, Alabama. He was at that home to execute a bond revocation on Francisco Sinecio-Alvarez. Eastis’ body was found inside the house by people who came to check on Sinecio-Alvarez after the suspect failed to report to work.

Authorities say Sinecio-Alvarez fled the scene. A light blue and white Ford F-150 tied to him was later found abandoned at a church in southwest Birmingham; a rifle believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was recovered inside the truck. The Blount County Sheriff’s Office described Sinecio-Alvarez as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 3 inches and 190 pounds, and warned he should be considered armed and dangerous. A murder warrant has been issued and U.S. Marshals are involved; a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

A 25-year-old, Christian Perez-Reyes, was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence and is being held in the Blount County Jail while the investigation continues. James Paul Eastis was a lifelong Mulga resident, married 55 years to his wife Sandra, and is survived by children Jamie and James, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Did anyone see a light blue and white Ford F-150 or have information about Francisco Sinecio-Alvarez’s whereabouts?
