Matthew Clayton Arthurs, 30, was found fatally shot on the morning of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the basement of his family home on Rose Heights Drive in Flowery Branch, Georgia. His father discovered him unresponsive on a basement sofa shortly after 8:30 a.m.; investigators believe the shooting occurred late on Monday night, February 9, 2026. Matthew worked as an A.V. technician for production companies and was born in Atlanta on November 17, 1995.

The investigation quickly focused on his older brother, 36-year-old Cristofer Daniel Arthurs, who lived at the home and was present when deputies arrived. A firearm was recovered at the scene; Cristofer was taken to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for questioning and was arrested and charged with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. Matthew’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy. No motive has been released and the investigation remains ongoing.
