In the early morning of February 7, 2026, a shooting at a residence on Upchurch Street in the Seth Ward area near Plainview, Texas, left five people dead. Tanya Paola Valadez Rangel, 30, was among the four victims found deceased at the scene; a fifth victim later died at Covenant Hospital-Plainview. The Texas Department of Public Safety identified 33-year-old Saul Villa as the assailant and one of the deceased at the scene.

Tanya was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and was a mother of two young daughters. She worked as a waitress at the Empire Super Buffet and was remembered as kind, selfless, and devoted to her family. Authorities said the Texas Rangers are handling the investigation; they have not released a motive or detailed the assailant’s relationship to the victims and have said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
