Paul Dudley, 29, was fatally shot around midnight on March 1, 2026, at a Cash Points ATM on Commerce Street in Aulander, North Carolina. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and Bertie County authorities quickly opened a homicide investigation.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation identified 27-year-old Darquel Wilkins, also of Aulander, as a person of interest and asked the public for help locating him. Officials have not released a motive or described any relationship between Dudley and Wilkins. No arrests have been announced and the search for Wilkins was ongoing in the latest reports.
