A neighborhood dispute on February 28, 2026, in the rural Edinburg area of Hidalgo County ended in a fatal shooting that left four people dead, including 33-year-old Jacklyn Marie Ortiz Guzman. Deputies were first called to the 10500 block of Highway 107 for a neighbor disagreement earlier that day; those at the scene were uncooperative and deputies left. Around 7:51 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported shots fired at the same location and deputies returned to find several people with gunshot wounds.
Jacklyn was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims, Valente Trevino, 41, and Eliazar Gabriel Martinez, 36, also died, while Jacklyn’s husband, 34-year-old Juan Luis Guzman, was transported to a hospital and later died there. Two additional men, Marco Antonio Quintero, 35, and Datrell Dezman Fleming, 25, were hospitalized with injuries.
Jacklyn lived in Mission, Texas, and was a mother to five children: Makayla, Maraya, Jesiah, Jayse, and Malanie. Her obituary describes her as devoted to her family and known for a selfless, generous spirit. Does anyone have information about the events leading up to the shooting or the people involved that could help investigators?
