In the early hours of Friday, February 27, 2026, a dispute in Rural Hall, North Carolina, ended with the death of 43-year-old Richard Aaron Davis Jr. Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office were called just after midnight to the 200 block of Woodbriar Path for a reported shooting. Davis was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, taken to a local hospital, and later died from his injuries.
Investigators say an argument between Davis and another person escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and shot Davis. A 20-year-old, Demetrius Lamont Hart Jr., was arrested and charged with felony murder and is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond.
Davis was born October 13, 1982, in Forsyth County and is remembered by family as kind-hearted, generous, and devoted to his faith. He enjoyed fishing and helping the homeless and is survived by his son Kyle Lambeth, his parents, and other relatives. Does anyone have information about that night on Woodbriar Path or knew Richard’s routines in Rural Hall?
