On the night of February 25, 2026, Pahokee, Florida, was hit by a string of shootings that left two men dead and a law enforcement officer injured. Deputies responding shortly after 10:00 p.m. to a residence on Booker Place found 40-year-old Francisco Pacheco and 37-year-old Henry McClean Jr. both deceased from gunshot wounds. Pacheco’s sister described him as compassionate and humble and well-known in the community.
Minutes later, additional shootings were reported nearby and at a convenience store, where a man was wounded and survived. As deputies secured a scene, a suspect returned in a black SUV and intentionally struck a deputy, throwing him about 40 feet, then approached with a handgun. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Charles McCloud Jr., was fatally shot by the injured deputy and a second deputy who had arrived. The injured deputy was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say McCloud had an extensive criminal history and that the victims and suspect were known to each other; the motive remains under investigation. If anyone in Pahokee knew Francisco Pacheco or has information about the shootings, please share what you know.
