On the afternoon of April 8, 2026, a dispute between two brothers in Virginia Beach escalated into a fatal shooting. Emergency responders were called to the 600 block of Chancery Square around 1:31 p.m.; 41-year-old Michael Armstrong was found inside a residence with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members remember Michael for his humor, vibrant personality, and as a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
Police quickly identified Michael’s older brother as the suspect. Witnesses said the brothers had been arguing before a shot was fired, and officers arrested 46-year-old Juan Armstrong within twenty minutes in a nearby neighborhood. A criminal complaint alleges Juan shot Michael in the head; investigators say Juan admitted the shooting and that a Taurus .40 caliber handgun was recovered during a search of the home. Juan was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon. The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Detective Bureau continues to investigate.
Did anyone in the Chancery Square area hear or see anything that afternoon that could help investigators?
