Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen, 38, was found dead inside her home on April 1, 2026, after city employees raised concerns when she missed scheduled meetings and a call to her husband prompted a wellness check. Officers arrived at approximately 10:04 AM at her residence in the 800 block of NW 127th Avenue and discovered her deceased. The preliminary investigation pointed to a domestic incident and an apparent domestic violence shooting.
Her husband, Stephen Bowen, was identified as the primary suspect after license plate readers placed his car in nearby Plantation. He was later taken into custody by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and charged with premeditated murder and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Bowen had been Coral Springs’ first Black and Haitian American woman elected to the commission in 2020 and was widely mourned as a community leader.
If anyone has information about Nancy Metayer Bowen, her last movements, or the events leading to April 1, please share what you know.
