A dispute that began inside the Lucky Strike bowling alley on Brigman Road in Matthews, North Carolina, escalated into a fatal shooting in the parking lot shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Forty-three-year-old Travis Marcus Lock was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to the upper left torso; officers and paramedics provided aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man suspected of shooting Lock fled before police arrived. Later the same day, 48-year-old Ray Jevon Teasley turned himself in to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, admitted to the shooting and surrendered a firearm. He was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter; Teasley told investigators he panicked and fled.
Family and friends called Lock Big Trav and remembered him as a jokester who filled a room, a father and a devoted son and brother who had turned his life around in recent years. A GoFundMe was set up to help with funeral and memorial expenses and services were scheduled for April 8, 2026, at Roseboro’s Mortuary in Charlotte.
If anyone witnessed the altercation at Lucky Strike or has information about the moments leading up to the shooting, please come forward.
