Nathaniel Padgett, 34, was shot and killed after a road-rage encounter on the evening of April 16, 2026. Padgett, a FedEx driver, was driving with his girlfriend on the Florida Turnpike when another motorist, later identified as 24-year-old Tyler Brandon Vidro, began trying to provoke a confrontation by pulling alongside, lowering his window, and making gestures. Vidro followed Padgett into the private parking lot of the FedEx distribution center in Riviera Beach and, after Padgett briefly went inside the building, confronted him again when Padgett returned to his personal vehicle.
Surveillance-based police reports say the dispute escalated on a private road when Padgett exited his truck and picked up a cinder block; Vidro allegedly then fired nine shots, striking Padgett seven times in the chest, abdomen, arm, and leg. Padgett was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Vidro contacted authorities afterward, saying he acted in self-defense and had emptied the magazine. Investigators allege Vidro tracked Padgett onto restricted property and describe his conduct as consistent with aggravated stalking; authorities say Stand Your Ground would not apply. Vidro was arrested and held without bond on first-degree murder and aggravated stalking charges, and Padgett’s family has set up a GoFundMe; the family describes him as a loving father to three children.
Did anyone see either vehicle near the Turnpike or the Riviera Beach distribution center that evening who hasn’t already spoken to investigators?
