Lavern Billy Pinckney, 60, was found fatally beaten in his Midland Avenue apartment in Yonkers, New York, on the afternoon of August 30, 2004. After returning from his job as a hospital driver at Yonkers General Hospital, and while also co‑owning a local bar, Pinckney was discovered unconscious on the living room floor by his wife Betty at about 4:15 p.m. Emergency responders pronounced him dead; his fatal injuries were later attributed to blunt force trauma.
Pinckney and Betty had three grown children. Police opened a homicide investigation immediately, but despite those efforts no suspects were publicly identified and no arrests were made. The case eventually grew cold, and the Yonkers Police Department continues to list the death as an unsolved homicide and asks for any leads that might move the investigation forward.
If anyone knew Lavern Pinckney, his routines, who had access to the Midland Avenue apartment that day, or saw anything suspicious in the neighborhood on August 30, 2004, contact the Yonkers Police Department with any information.
