Robert Gordon, 51, was found dead at his Kingston, New York, home on October 15, 1996. Authorities determined he had been bound with tape and a clothesline and died of asphyxiation. Investigators noted a money pouch Gordon was known to carry is missing, leading to robbery being considered a possible motive. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified.
Police see striking similarities between Gordon’s killing and the August 1992 murder of 43-year-old Larry J. Atkins, who was also found in his home bound with tape and rope. Both men lived solitary lives, had cluttered homes, and were rumored to keep large amounts of cash, and both cases have been entered into the FBI’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program.
Anyone with information about Robert Gordon, his routines, or the missing money pouch is asked to come forward.
