Pamela Ann Devizzio was 28 and worked as a waitress at Mangino’s Restaurant in Saratoga Springs when she was last seen in the early morning hours of July 5, 1988, leaving a bar on Caroline Street by herself. When she failed to show up for work and could not be reached, her father reported her missing to the Saratoga Springs Police. The next morning a truck driver found a woman’s body in a ditch along Putnam Road in Northumberland; it was later identified as Pamela.

An autopsy determined Pamela had been bludgeoned to death, with fatal head injuries, and investigators estimated she had been deceased about 30 hours before discovery. Friends and family told investigators she would not have gone with a stranger, and detectives say the rural, lightly traveled location where her body was left suggests the killer knew the area. Over the years multiple people have been interviewed and some treated as persons of interest, but no arrests have been made.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office continues to list the case as an active investigation and has re-examined evidence hoping newer forensic techniques such as DNA analysis might produce leads. If anyone knew Pamela, saw her on July 5, 1988, or has information about Putnam Road or suspicious activity that night, the Sheriff’s Office would like to hear from you.
