I was thinking about the ripple effects tragedies like this have on communities, and particularly in schools. At Manatee High, they must be navigating a whirlwind of emotions right now, trying to comprehend how this happened to someone they knew and were about to celebrate at graduation. It's just devastating for his friends and teachers who saw Demetrius ready to take that next step in life. I read that the district brought in crisis counselors, which is good, but it's such a harsh reality for all those students to face. I hope they find some solace and strength in each other during this incredibly difficult time. I also wonder how this will impact future security measures or programs in the school. Schools might start taking even more precautions to prevent such an incident from happening again. It's all too much for such young people to handle, truly.
