Myron East, 48, was fatally shot at a Bennett Road residence in Vinton, Louisiana, on the evening of Friday, May 8, 2026. Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office found East with an apparent gunshot wound to the head; he was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.

Twenty-five-year-old Caleb McClellan, who identified himself to dispatch as the son of East’s girlfriend, called 911 and told the dispatcher he had shot his mother’s boyfriend. Detectives say a verbal dispute at the home escalated, and McClellan allegedly confronted East with a firearm and fired, striking him. The nature of the argument has not been released.
