Three members of a Fairview, North Carolina household were found dead in their Ashworth Drive home on the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026. Deputies conducting welfare checks after relatives reported being unable to contact the family discovered Travis Eugene Grant, 41; his wife Kimberly Michelle Grant, 42; and his mother Sharon Harwood Grant, 66, each killed by gunshot wounds. Investigators later said the victims also had stab wounds.
Their 16-year-old daughter Star Grant was missing from the house, and tips indicated she might be with 28-year-old Devan Loving in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Early on May 8 the two were located at a motel and taken into custody. Both were charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder; Loving was also charged with child abduction. Authorities say both suspects allegedly made statements admitting involvement; they were returned to North Carolina and ordered held without bond.
Relatives told investigators the parents had been concerned about and disapproved of the relationship between their daughter and the older man, and had been considering a restraining order against Loving. Does anyone have information about the family, their movements in early May, or the relationship that might help explain how this escalated?
