On May 3, 2026, a family in Plant City, Florida, was the scene of a quadruple homicide that has left the community reeling. Victims identified were 27-year-old Hailey Dempsey, her 4-year-old daughter Belle Dempsey, a 4-month-old infant daughter, and Hailey’s 55-year-old mother, Valerie Monica Deboe. Hailey and her two daughters were found shot in a lot near Tever and Wheeler streets; Valerie Deboe was found shot inside a home about half a mile away. A third daughter of Hailey’s was found at the scene unharmed.

Less than 48 hours before the killings, police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at the residence Hailey shared with her husband, Jay Dempsey. According to the police report, the argument began after Hailey discovered her husband had been viewing pornography and allegedly unfaithful; Hailey left the home with her mother after officers’ contact. Officers recorded that the disturbance had been verbal and no physical violence was reported at that time.

As of early May 2026 the investigation remains open. Investigators say they have developed significant leads and do not believe the killings were random, but no arrests or publicly named suspects have been announced. Anyone with information about Hailey Dempsey, her children, or the events around May 3 is urged to come forward.
