A quiet Sunday morning in Plant City turned deadly on May 3, 2026, when gunfire left four family members dead across two locations. Victims included 55-year-old Valerie Monica Deboe, her 28-year-old daughter Hailey Megan Dempsey, Hailey’s 4-year-old daughter and a 4-month-old infant. A third child at the scene was unharmed.

Officers first responded to the 300 block of West Tever Street, where Hailey and the two young children were found with gunshot wounds; the children were pronounced dead at the scene and Hailey later died at a hospital. The investigation led to a second address in the 900 block of North Burton Street, about half a mile away, where Valerie Deboe was found fatally shot.

Police have not publicly named any suspects or announced arrests. Two days before the shootings, officers had responded to a domestic disturbance at the home Hailey shared with her husband, Jay Dempsey; he was briefly detained and released. Neighbors reported seeing him put on a bulletproof vest and load a large duffel bag into his car the night before the killings.

Does anyone in Plant City have information about these locations, the family, or what was seen in the days leading up to May 3?
